Aero Contractors flight makes emergency landing at Sokoto airport

An Aero Contractors Boeing 737-500 aircraft that took off from Sokoto to Abuja on Wednesday made an air return back to Sokoto airport due to technical fault noticed by the pilot mid-way in the course of the flight. Nigeria’s debt rises to N21.7 trillion - DMO

Nigeria’s external debt rose to $18.91 billion (N5.787 trillion) as at the end of December 2017, while domestic debt rose to N15.937 trillion, bringing the total debt stock of the country to N21.725 trillion ($70.92 billion), data released wednesday by Debt Management Office (DMO), has shown. At N21.725 trillion, the country’s total debt stock rose to a new high, from N17.36 trillion ($56.73 billion) at end of 2016. UN says Nigerians happier in 2017

Nigeria ranked 91st out of 156 countries in the annual Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s (SDSN) 2018 World Happiness Report released by the United Nations on Wednesday. The report ranked 156 countries according to factors such as GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, social freedom, generosity and absence of corruption. Universities’ non-academic staff suspend nationwide strike

Non-teaching staff of Nigerian universities have suspended their strike. The staff, members of three unions, NASU, SSANU, and NAAT, announced the suspension of the three month and 10 days old strike on Wednesday. Nigeria Immigration generates N38.5 billion, $29.9 million in 2017 – Official

Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) generated a total revenue of N38.532 billion and $29.9 million in 2017. Comptroller-General of NIS, Mr Muhammad Babandede, made this known at an operational review meeting with zonal coordinators and state controllers of the agency in Abuja on Wednesday. Babandede also said that the NIS made a total payment of N38.531 billion in the year under review, leaving a surplus of one million naira.
