FG approves 10-year validity for Nigerian passport

Federal Government has approved a 10-year validity period for Nigerian passport, in line with international standards. Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr Mohammed Babadede, announced this yesterday, in Lagos, during the launching of Guaranty Trust Bank’s e-passport, at Ikoyi Passport Office. Korea remains: Pyongyang returns US troops slain in Korean War

North Korea has returned remains believed to be of US troops killed during the Korean War, the latest move in the cautious diplomacy between Washington and Pyongyang.The White House said the remains were en route to a US base in South Korea. Ex-judge leads protest over retirees’ unpaid pensions

A retired judge of Osun State High Court, Mrs Folahanmi Oloyede, on Wednesday led hundreds of retirees in protest against non-payment of their gratuities and pensions by Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led administration. The protesters marched through some streets in Osogbo, the state capital, demanding payment of the money owed them by the government. Nigeria loses 3,036MW as six power plants remain shut

As the power sector contends with the challenges of inadequate supply of gas and other operational challenges, the 11 electricity distribution companies (Discos) yesterday claimed that they lose an average of N48 from every kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity they distribute because of the non-review of electricity tariffs in the past 30 months. North Korea appears to have begun dismantling part of a key rocket launch site in the country's north-west. JAMB remits another N7.8 billion to FG

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has remitted another N7.8 billion to the federal government. State House, Budget Office, 306 others spent N149bn illegally – AGF

Auditor-General for the Federation, Mr Anthony Ayine, has queried 308 Ministries, Department and Agencies of government over extra-budgetary spending of N149.5bn in 2016. This is contained in 2016 annual report of Auditor-General for the Federation obtained by our correspondent on Sunday in Abuja.
