NAPTIP launches app to tackle human trafficking

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has launched a-one-in-all platform for the public called “NAPTIP ireport App.” The application was launched during a press conference Monday in Abuja. According to Director General of NAPTIP, Mrs Julie Okah-Donli, the app is to “scale up the visibility of the agency”. Okah-Donli said the development is to prompt reportage of issues relating to human trafficking as well as increase participation and interaction of the general public in human trafficking matters. FG to send air force, 1,000 security personnel to tackle banditry

Nigeria will deploy its air force and 1,000 security personnel to fight banditry in the northwest of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari said on Sunday. The move underscores how security has broken down across much of Nigeria, where an ineffective police force has exacerbated already-weak enforcement, particularly outside urban areas. IGP posts four commissioners to Bayelsa in two weeks

There is confusion in Bayelsa State over deployment of four Commissioners of Police in the state within two weeks by Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris. It was learnt that police authorities were influenced to redeploy the CPs by some politicians not uncomfortable with officers posted to the state. N’Delta demands 10% share from federation account

Nigeria is yet to register half of its 95,000 hajj slots, more than a week since commencement of airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the annual exercise. Skywatchers around the world have witnessed the longest "blood moon" eclipse of the 21st Century. Ex-Gombe gov, Hashidu, is dead

First civilian governor of Gombe State, Mr Abubakar Hashidu, Friday passed on at the age of 74 years after a protracted illness. Hashidu died in his home around 10:30 am in Gombe, leaving behind a wife, eight children, 15 grandchildren and one great-grand child.
