Every nation is always concerned about…
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) of “playing politics” with its agriculture development loans to states. Wike said this on Monday in Port Harcourt when Minister of State for Agriculture, and Rural Development, Mustapha Shehuri, visited him. The governor said CBN was being “political” in the implementation of the agriculture loan. “We are among the states being denied access to loans meant for agriculture development,” he said. “It is wrong to play politics with certain issues, we should be dispassionate in implementing this kind of programme.” Wike said CBN ought to partner the…
Federal government has temporarily banned Emirates airline from operating in the country over its continuous refusal to fly passengers without a pre-boarding rapid diagnostic test (RTD’s). Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 (PTF), Boss Mustapha, while speaking at its weekly briefing on Monday said the ban will take effect from midnight on Wednesday, March 17. “KLM will resume outbound flights from Lagos on March 15, 2021, without RDTs while a letter has been written to Emirates airlines to suspend flights with effect from midnight Wednesday, March 17, 2021,” he said. Mustapha, however, said discussions are ongoing to resolve…
Germany, France and Italy said on Monday they would suspend AstraZeneca Covid-19 shots after several countries reported possible serious side-effects, but the World Health Organization (WHO) said there was no proven link and people should not panic. Still, the decision by the European Union’s three biggest countries to put inoculations with the AstraZeneca shot on hold threw the already struggling vaccination campaign in the 27-nation EU into disarray. Denmark and Norway stopped giving the shot last week after reporting isolated cases of bleeding, blood clots and a low platelet count. Iceland and Bulgaria followed suit and Ireland and the Netherlands…
The Vatican declared Monday that the Catholic Church won’t bless same-sex unions since God “cannot bless sin.” The Vatican’s orthodoxy office, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, issued a formal response to a question about whether Catholic clergy have the authority to bless gay unions. The answer, contained in a two-page explanation published in seven languages and approved by Pope Francis, was “negative.” The note distinguished between the church’s welcoming and blessing of gay people, which it upheld, but not their unions. It argued that such unions are not part of God’s plan and that any sacramental recognition…
