Imprisonment awaits Nigerians without NIN - Minister

Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, on Thursday warned that Nigerians who do not have National Identity Numbers risked imprisonment. He also ruled out lifting ban on issuance of new SIM cards soon. The minister said it was a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment for any Nigerian to transact business like opening a bank account and paying taxes among others without having NIN. Gunmen invade military base in Niger state, kill 5 solders, Mopol, 7 others

Bandits in the early hours of yesterday invaded a military base in Allawa, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State and killed five soldiers and a mobile policeman. The entire military camp was razed by the bandits who invaded the base at about 2am when soldiers had just returned to the base from area patrol. Air Force jet fighting Boko Haram goes missing - Official

An air force jet on a support mission in Borno State has dropped out of radar contact. The Nigerian Air Force Alpha Jet was on an interdiction mission in support of ground troops. “The loss of radar contact occurred at about 5:08 pm on 31 March 2021,” according to Edward Gabkwet, the air force’s director of public relations and information. “Details of the whereabout of the aircraft or likely cause of contact loss are still sketchy but will be relayed to the general public as soon as they become clear.” Meanwhile, search and rescue efforts are ongoing. Train crashes in Taiwan, killing 34, injuring scores

A passenger train smashed into a truck on its tracks and partially derailed outside a rail tunnel along Taiwan’s east coast Friday, killing 34 people and injuring dozens, local police said.
