Court summons Emefiele to appear in court over suit seeking his arrest

A Federal High Court in Abuja has summoned Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to appear on Wednesday (today) over a $53 million judgement debt arising from the Pars Club refunds. Justice Inyang Ekwo in an application for garnishee made on October 20, 2022, ordered Emefiele to appear on January 18 as the hearing date for the matter. Annual inflation in Nigeria dipped in December to 21.34% after 10 straight monthly increases, the statistics bureau said on Monday, ahead of a central bank meeting to set interest rates next week. Nigeria’s crude oil production when put side by side its expected output of 1.88 million barrels per day in 2022, was short by a whopping 283 million barrels, amounting to roughly $24.55 billion, analysis has shown. Fertilizer tops as non-oil exports revenue increased 40 percent last year

Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) says Nigeria recorded non-oil export earnings of $4.82 billion in 2022. Ezra Yakusak, executive director/chief executive officer (CEO), NEPC, said this while presenting the 2022 non-oil export performance to journalists in Abuja on Friday. Yakusak said the figure represented a 39.91 percent increase compared to 2021 when non-oil exports totaled $3.45 billion. He said the figure is based on data collated from various pre-shipment inspection agents appointed by the federal government under the Pre-shipment Inspection Act, 2004.
