A total of 54 public assets have been concessioned under the government of President Muhammadu Buhari. The assets approved by the Federal Executive Council and franchised to private investors generated total revenue of N1.318trn and $4.072bn in six years. The concessioned assets are expected to be managed by private companies for a period of five to 55 years. The public-private partnership model was an initiative by the current government to renovate and maintain public acquisitions. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Yusha’u Ahmed, a brigadier-general, as the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Ahmed is expected to assume office as the NYSC DG on Monday. Eddy Megwa, NYSC spokesperson, confirmed the development on Sunday. In November 2022, Christy Uba, director of information and communications technology, NYSC, took over the leadership of the corps in “overseer” capacity. Central Bank of Nigeria has extended deadline for the swapping of old naira notes till February 10, 2023. CBN stated this in a release on Sunday. Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended the Abuja-Kaduna rail services after a train derailed on the corridor. A train said to be a few minutes from its destination in Abuja derailed on Friday afternoon. The incident was said to have occurred in the Kubwa area of the federal capital territory (FCT).
