36 males, three females to contest guber poll in Oyo

Daniel Agbolade Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said 39 candidates from 39 political parties across Oyo State will contest the forthcoming gubernatorial election billed to take place on Saturday. PDP crisis: Kashamu, Adebutu disagree as Appeal Court sets aside FHC’s order

Court of Appeal in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday declined to pronounce either Mr Buruji Kashamu or a member of House of Representatives, Mr Oladipo Adebutu, as governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State. But the court set aside the order granted by a Federal High Court in Abeokuta, directing Independent National Electoral Commission to accept and process the list of Ogun State PDP candidates submitted to it by Adebayo Dayo-led faction of the party for 2019 general elections. 2019: US warns of looming violence in Nigeria

United States Government has expressed fear that Nigeria’s general elections scheduled for 2019 are likely to be characterised by violence. It said the conduct of the elections could have significant consequences for the democratic trajectory of Nigeria, West Africa, and the entire continent. Donald Duke reacts to court judgement removing him as SDP presidential candidate

Presidential Candidate of Social Democratic Party, (SDP), Mr Donald Duke, says he will appeal the judgement removing him as the party’s presidential flag bearer. Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Friday declared Mr Jerry Gana, a former Minister of Information, as presidential candidate of SDP. Rivers APC will field no candidates in 2019 elections, Appeal court rules

A Special Appeal Panel set up by President of Court of Appeal, Mrs Zainab Bulkachuwa, to handle the protracted legal tussle in Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has struck out an appeal by factional chairman of the party, Mr Flag-Amachree Ojukaiye.
