France and United Kingdom yesterday, separately denied any complicity on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) crisis, saying they were never contacted by Nigeria on the issue. Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed had on Wednesday referred to France as the financial headquarters of IPOB and complained that the British government allowed the group’s Radio Biafra to operate on its soil despite all the damages it is doing to Nigeria. French embassy in Abuja, in a statement yesterday by its Political Counsellor, Mr Claude Abily, dismissed the minister’s remarks. “The Embassy of France was surprised by the statement…
The Presidency says that the rampaging Fulani herdsmen reported to have killed many and raped women as well as destroyed farmlands in some states in the country are not terrorists but mere criminals. It says however that Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is a terrorists organization because it has carved out a territory within Nigeria for its members. Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu made this distinction while playing guest to Channels TV programme on Thursday. The presidency made the comment following mounting pressure from various quarters of the country for it to…

Attorney-General of the Federation cannot competently sue IPOB as a defendant, in any court of law, the same being an entity unknown to law. The Court cannot make an order against a non existing entity, such as IPOB. Such order, if and when…

Concerns about growing global antibiotic resistance have plunged into new depths as World Health Organisation, WHO, is now warning that the world is running out of antibiotics. There is not enough new antibiotics being developed, especially for the most concerning antibiotic-resistant infections, according to a WHO report released Tuesday. Most of the drugs currently in the clinical pipeline are modifications of existing classes of antibiotics and are only short-term solutions. The report found very few potential treatment options for those antibiotic-resistant infections identified by WHO as posing the greatest threat to health, including drug-resistant tuberculosis which kills around 250 000…

President Muhammadu Buhari was silent on the agitation by Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, while delivering his address at the ongoing United Nations General Assembly, because he did not want to escalate the crisis to the world body, Ondo Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has said.
