475 Boko Haram suspects released for rehabilitation

A court has released 475 people allegedly affiliated with Boko Haram for rehabilitation, the justice ministry said on Sunday, as the country's biggest legal investigation of the militant Islamist insurgency continues. The first person convicted for the kidnapping in 2014 of Chibok schoolgirls, sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment last week, was also handed an addition 15-year sentence, to run back-to-back, the justice ministry said in a statement. Oil blocks are ‘ancestral properties’ of Niger Delta - Dickson

Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Seriake Dickson, on Saturday demanded that more oil blocs be given to oil-producing areas because they are “the ancestral properties of Niger Delta.” He also called on the multinational oil companies to heed the directive by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to relocate to Niger Delta which produces the crude oil. A Minna high court has asked Niger state government to put on hold the planned dissolution of the 25 local governments in the state. 447 foreign trained doctors fail assessment exam

No fewer than 447 of the 686 foreign trained doctors who wrote the assessment test of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) failed. The Federal Government decried the poor performance of the foreign trained medical and dental graduates as only 249 were successful in the examination conducted in November 2017. The Court of Appeal in London ruled on Wednesday that two Nigerian communities cannot pursue Royal Dutch Shell in English courts over oil spills in Nigeria's Delta region.
