Abati pledges to write own book

Former presidential spokesperson, Dr Reuben Abati, says despite threats by some Nigerians that they won’t read accounts of his stewardship at the presidential villa, he may still write a book about his experience. Abati, who served in the government of former president Goodluck Jonathan, said he had been told by some Nigerians to chronicle his experience when he served as Mr. Jonathan’s media aide. He, however, added that he had also overheard some people saying that they won’t buy his books if he ever wrote one. The former editorial board chair of The Guardian newspaper spoke to PREMIUM TIMES after…
Outrage spread in some parts of the country, yesterday, following revelations of lopsided recruitment into the Department of State Service, DSS reflecting what many Nigerians described as a continuing effort by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to stamp a northern character on all strands of the federal bureaucracy. The outrage over the lopsided appointments by the Buhari administration was heightened yesterday after it was reported that the latest DSS recruitments were heavily skewed in favour of the north and in particular, Katsina, home state of President Buhari and the Director-General of the DSS. In the revelations published by PremiumTimes, 51…
After several days of relentless efforts to track down Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, five Northern Governors managed at the weekend to broker peace between the Kano State Government and Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II. Daily Trust on Sunday learnt from impeccable sources that Governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto, Nasiru El-Rufa’i of Kaduna, Kashim Shettima…

North Korea test-fired a ballistic missile on Saturday shortly after U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson warned that failure to curb Pyongyang's nuclear and ballistic missile programmes could lead to "catastrophic consequences". U.S. and South Korean officials said the test, from an area north of the North Korean capital, appeared to have failed, in what would be the North's fourth straight unsuccessful missile test since March. The test came as the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier group arrived in waters near the Korean peninsula, where it began exercises with the South Korean navy on Saturday, about 12 hours after the…
The Presidency has ruled out the possibility of President Muhammadu Buhari resigning his position over his ill health as being suggested by some Nigerians. In an interview with journalists in Lagos on Friday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said those calling for the President’s resignation were merely expressing their opinion.
