A Nigerian archbishop has become president of the Lutheran church. Archbishop Musa Panti Filibus was elected as head of the Lutheran World Federation on Saturday at an assembly held in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. Filibus, 57, is the second church leader from Africa to lead the Lutheran federation since it was founded in 1947. North Korea on Sunday test-launched a ballistic missile that flew as far as 800 kilometers (500 miles) before landing in the Sea of Japan, the South Korean, Japanese and U.S. militaries said. Three suicide bombers attempted early Saturday morning to enter University of Maiduguri, (UNIMAID) but they were thwarted by security men. Two of the bombers detonated their explosives as they faced interrogation by the security men at the gate, killing one of them and injuring another. The third bomber, who had hidden close to a building near the gate, also detonated her explosive. She was the only casualty in the incident. Akwa Ibom State University says the institution has expelled 21 students for various offences committed in 2016. Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eno Ibanga, stated this while speaking with newsmen in Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enim Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
