Funmi Olaitan, Ibadan Tragedy struck along Eleyele-Ologuneru road, Ibadan, yesterday as a petrol tanker fire claimed the life of a yet-to-be-identified woman and destroyed property worth millions of naira. The fire which started around 11am according to eye witness was triggered when the truck loaded with 33,000 litres of diesel had difficulty ascending the hilly Ologuneru road from Eleyele bridge axis of the road. Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, said on Tuesday that policemen would soon be deployed to their communities of origin to enhance community policing. The IGP told a meeting in Lokoja that the bulk of the 150,000 policemen to be recruited over the next five years would serve in their respective communities. Results of the first set of candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) last Saturday have been released by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The results were said to have been released within 24 hours of the examination, and candidates have been advised to check their e-mail addresses or visit the board’s website for their results.
