Arraigned Accountant General, Ahmed Idris, asks for plea bargain in N109bn fraud case

Ahmed Idris, suspended accountant-general of the federation, is seeking a plea bargain in a criminal suit preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). In criminal proceedings, a plea bargain is an arrangement between defendants and prosecutors in which defendants agree to plead guilty to some or all of the charges against them in exchange for lesser penalties. The parties in the suit work out a mutually satisfactory disposition of the case, subject to court approval. Nigerian military says it arrested five suspects in an Islamist militant attack in a Catholic church that killed 40 people in early June, Chief of Defence Staff Leo Irabor said on Tuesday. The gunmen who attacked a Kaduna-bound train in March and abducted several passengers released five more hostages on Tuesday. The release of the hostages comes after the terrorists released four of the victims last week Monday. Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, on Sunday night, wiped-out a family of eight people in Chol village of Vwang District, in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. Gunmen abduct 50 residents from Kaduna community

Gunmen have reportedly abducted at least 50 people from Damari community in Birnin-Gwari LGA of Kaduna state.
