Authorities of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have directed students of the institution to resume on November 11.

Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Godfrey Bajki confirmed this in a press statement on Wednesday evening.

The announcement came two months after academic activities on FUOYE campus were suspended and the school closed down indefinitely by the management of the institution due to the students’ violent demonstration.

Students had on September 10 staged a violent protest in Oye-Ekiti over incessant power outage in the host community and other adjoining towns, leading to attack on Erelu Fayemi’s convoy while on empowerment tour to the town.

The bloody demonstration resulted into the killing of two students of the school, Okonufua Joseph and Kehinde Dada on September 10, by security officials who allegedly shot live bullets.

According to the statement, the decision was reached following a marathon deliberation of the University’s Senate which held Wednesday.

It added the University’s authorities has appointed Mr Sola Ojo as the new Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Academics) while Mr Abayomi Fasina, maintained the Deputy Vice-chancellor (Administration) position.
