Senate has confirmed Mr Folashodun Shonubi as Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Mr Muiz Banire as chairman governing board of Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON).

The confirmation, yesterday, followed the adoption of two separate reports of the Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions headed by Mr Rafiu Ibrahim (PDP, Kwara).

Senate said the two confirmations were in line with Section 8 (1) (2) of CBN Act and Section 10 (1) of AMCON Act, 2010.‎

‎President Muhammadu Buhari had ‎in July nominated both Shonubi and Banire for confirmation.

Banire’s confirmation came despite opposition from senators representing Lagos State at the Senate.
