Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you ~ Luke 10:19.
Introduction:
It is crystal clear that Jesus made full provisions for us, whereby we are preserved from the powers of Satan and all his hosts. Jesus Christ also bestowed on us rare kingdom authority. This He did because of His unfeigned love for us, and for the advancement of God’s kingdom on earth.
Today, the believers in Christ Jesus are fully authorized to impact the world. We have authority over devils, diseases, fear, death, sin and even over natural events. However, all who will control Satan and all his emissaries must be clothed with no less than the Almighty Power of God.
The Believers’ Dominion in Christ Jesus
Every well informed child of God has a story to tell of an identity he shares and a companionship he enjoys with dominion spirit on his journeys on earth. The dominion spirit is the unconquerable entity within, which when carefully cultured and nurtured inside the believer can give an enviable identity to any believer in any generation.
The subject of dominion is actually older than man. Ever before he was created, dominion was an intrinsic component of God’s primordial passion for man. “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion” (Genesis 1:26). And, from the onset of creation, God’s intention had been for man to dominate his environment and life’s situation completely.
Dominion connotes a sense of having a complete mastery, to tread upon or exercise total rulership over a situation or things. It implies having the last say that cannot be ignored, resisted or challenged by other powers in that province of authority.
To have dominion also means to have and to exercise powers capable of enforcing a stand. This was the position of dignity and strength man occupied at the onset of creation.
Unfortunately, at an historic point in time, man did not maintain the dominion he obtained from God, and he therefore lost out to the master-game of satanic deception. Thereafter, man’s ability to rule alone was equally stolen from him. But that was not the end of the story.
Today, as many as stand connected to the grace of God by the redemptive work of Christ have the dominion rights restored to them without loss in quality, power and privileges. And, the moment you allow this truth to fill your mentality, your destiny becomes laced with dominion values and ultimately you end up as a champion.
Both factually and vitally all true believers in Christ today possess this staggering dominion over all decimating instruments of Satan (Luke 9:1;10:19). What a fascinating truth!
Whenever Satan comes anywhere near the borders of your life-spaces, home or business, he can be challenged effectively, in the name and authority of Jesus Christ. You can say: ‘Satan, I now resist you in the name and power of the Lord Jesus Christ Who conquered you on the Cross at Calvary. Satan, get lost, in Jesus Name’. And, forward from that point, the rest is miracles!
The Believers’ Position of Authority in Christ Jesus
Every believer shares in the gallant victory of Christ at calvary to the full. The Bible declares that He ‘spoiled principalities and powers’ and triumphed over them. But it is equally gladsome to note that Jesus Christ conferred this authority upon His followers when He said: ‘Behold, I give unto you power ...’ (Luke 10:19). And, by this honorable bestowal, the powers of evil are compelled to obey any believer who boldly exerts the authority over the enemy, in Jesus’ name (Luke 10:17).
It is to be expected, however, that the powers of darkness may bitterly oppose and resist their own overthrow. They may even attack, with malignant hatred, the believer in the line of duty to enforce Calvary’s victory over them. But, the good-news is that their rebellion cannot sustain its strength for long. It must yield – as soon as they hear the voice of God’s Word.
Moreover, the believer’s refuge is secure under the blood of Jesus Christ. And, no power of the enemy can penetrate this since they cannot cross the bloodline. In other words, the Cross robbed Satan of his power eternally (Rev. 12:11). When you bind the blood upon him or plead it against him, it takes away the vestige of his abrogated authority and power. Alleluia!
Please always remember this that the devil is a defeated foe. Christ overcame him on the cross. We do not need to initiate a fresh fight against Satan, but rather a fight of faith to hold over him the accomplished triumph of the Cross of Christ. We have now to enter into this victory arena of Jesus by faith.
The blood of Jesus is God’s provision for overcoming the enemy. It is the token of Christ’s complete victory over Satan and his evil forces, perpetually: "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God ... and the authority of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down ... And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death" (Revelation 12:10-11).
Meanwhile, it must be understood that power is very essential for the sustenance of authority, just like the authority of the Police anywhere in the world requires a sufficient back-up of coercive mechanisms to sustain it. Similarly, spiritual authority, such as Christ bestowed upon the believers, cannot be meaningful without spiritual power. Hence, adequate spiritual power, necessary to enforce the lordship of Jesus Christ is inevitable to back up our positional authority as children of God.
The power of the Holy Spirit is given to the believer to work miracles and to subjugate the entire demonic system. Diseases are to be healed. Demons are to be cast out. This is the mystery of God’s kingdom on earth, that we have this treasure of power and authority in earthen vessel, ‘that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us’ (2Corinthians 4:7).
In conclusion, let’s keep in mind that a superlative authority now flows constantly from the throne of grace unto the new creation man because of the unique personality, Jesus Christ, sitting on the throne. Please continue to keep fit and enjoy the flow. Happy Sunday!
