Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luke 10:19
Introduction: The heritage of total dominion is one of the choicest gifts God bestowed upon the believers in Christ Jesus. Indeed, no man can be as privileged as God’s Children; however, you still need to be truly aware of this and walk in the consciousness of it before you can fully enjoy it. If you don’t know who you are and what you have, you suffer unnecessarily under the burden of identity crisis. That’s why God said, ‘my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge’ (Hosea 4:6).
No doubt, the subject of dominion is as old as man (Psalm 8:4-6). Even after the fall, God ensured that dominion remained a major provision in the Redemptive package, which underscores the importance God attached to it (Colossians 2:14-15). Thus, the settled fact is that the believers in Christ have been given total dominion authority, which covers everything that is connected to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). It also devolves to overrule the laws of sin, Satan, diseases, demons, affliction, poverty, fear and death (Romans 8:1-2).
Dominion is authority to rule, to control and to influence. Dominion connotes a sense of having a complete mastery to tread upon or to exercise total authority over certain situations or things. It also implies having the last say that cannot be ignored, resisted or challenged by other powers in that province of authority. This was the position of dignity, honor and strength that man occupied at the onset of creation. And, today, this majestic authority still flows extraordinarily from the heavenly throne of grace unto the new creation man through the unique personality, Jesus Christ, who’s sitting on the throne.
It is a most fascinating thing that, both factually and vitally, all true believers who stand connected to the grace of God by the redemptive work of Christ today possesses this staggering dominion over all decimating instrument of the adversary, such as curses, diseases, demons, weaknesses, poverty and failure (Luke 9:1). And, yes, these believers’ dominion rights are ever fresh, without loss in quality, power and privileges. However, to guarantee that freshness in your personal experience, you must give attention to the following dominion demands.
Basically, true knowledge is a major key to being a man of dominion. To enjoy dominion, you must know it as your heritage from God and understand what it entails. David knew these and he enjoyed dominion. Exercising yourself in dominion is a covenant affair. Hence, you must be attached to the divine covenant, knowing that covenant commitment is a necessary step to the life of dominion.
Again, the dominion man must live righteously, obeying the commandments and precepts of God as of a lifestyle. The dominion lifestyle implicitly demands that you have God as your Shepherd and truly abide in Christ (Psalm 23:1; 91:1; 105:15).
Furthermore, a life of dominion will be established only by the supernatural force of faith. The man of dominion is not moved by satanic ranting. He breaks into the enemies’ territories, destroys their defenses and takes what rightly belongs to him (Obadiah 17; Mat. 11:12).
Faith is a practical and critical necessity for all those who nurse the Bible dream of living in total dominion. Faith is very decisive to the results you attract even in prayers. And hence, it is crucial to meeting needs. Faith releases the unprecedented in the realms of life and godliness. Pure faith ties the covenant with its blessings – salvation, healings, defense, prosperity etc. No wonder the Bible says, “the just shall live by faith” (Rom.1:17). With faith you cannot fail!
Your 'faith' is not faith unless it is the only thing you are holding on to. Your faith is your insurance against shame and failure. You will need it in due course, please keep it close to your heart. And, as you do the Holy Spirit will take full control to enforce your rights to liberty and good health. Please expect Him and allow Him also to perform the required supernatural operation in all areas of your need - spirit, soul and body - and in your total destiny. He is there with you right now, even as you read this message. Just let Him in and cooperate with Him to work upon your destiny, and you will celebrate again and again, in Jesus name. Amen.
Friends, in conclusion, it is all-time important to maintain our positions in dominion. Why? Whoever is not in dominion will be dominated upon by situations he doesn’t understand and may be unable to control. We must press to dominate and rule our world to the glory of God. You must tirelessly dominate over all your adversaries until all enemies are vanquished and God is truly glorified in your life, in Jesus Name. Alleluia. Happy Sunday!
