The G5 governors, comprising Wike, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ipeazu of Abia State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, are not on good terms with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. Atiku had made a move to woo the Bauchi State governor. But Wike on Wednesday led his colleagues to Bauchi to visit Mohammed, who spoke to newsmen shortly before a…
Explaining Bola Tinubu’s absence at last Sunday’s Arise TV town hall meeting for presidential candidates, the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, in a statement by its Chief Spokesman, Festus Keyamo, said: “Tinubu did not attend the Presidential Debate organised by ARISE TV on Sunday, November 6, 2022, for the following reasons: “Firstly, many radio and TV networks in Nigeria have indicated interests to host such debates and out of deference to other TV and radio stations, our candidate will not be making selective appearances in some networks, whilst ignoring others. As President of Nigeria, by the special Grace of God, he…
PDP Presidential Campaign Council has said that Tinubu and Shettima are running away from presidential debates because they are afraid of responding to probing questions from Nigerians. Spokesperson of the Atiku/Okowa PCC, Kola Ologbondiyan, said in a statement that “Tinubu has a record of avoiding debates and public interrogations following a mortal fear that Nigerians will put him to task on his alleged stinking corruption record, reported proxy treasury looting, obvious incompetence, ethnic bigotry as well as his alleged master-minding of APC’s anti-people policies that wrecked our nation in the last seven and half years. “APC presidential candidate and his…

Next February, Nigerians will elect the successor to president Muhammadu Buhari whose second and final four-year term will end in May. The contest is mainly between three frontrunners: Bola Tinubu of Buhari’s All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, and Peter Obi, a former state governor of the Labour Party. Beyond the presidency, there will be over 1,400 other races to follow within the elections’ two-week period including 28 state governorships and legislature seats. That is a lot of races to follow but with increasing internet penetration and social media, some companies and civil society…

Northern States Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) has called on Nigerians, irrespective of ethno-religious differences to ensure that the same faith ticket for the 2023 general elections does not see the light of the day. The elders noted that if the same faith is not rendered useless in 2023, it may end up standing the test of time in subsequent elections in the country to further divide the people. In his welcome address yesterday at the 2022 annual congress of the forum, National Chairman of NOSCEF, Ejoga Inalegwu said: “It is our responsibility as Christians in the North to kill Muslim-Muslim…
Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday appeared set to return to power as head of Israel’s most right-wing government ever after winning this week’s national election, with the current caretaker prime minister conceding defeat. Final results showed Netanyahu’s Likud Party and its ultranationalist and religious partners capturing a solid majority in Israel’s Knesset, or parliament. The strong showing promised to end the political gridlock that has paralyzed Israel for the past three and a half years. But the planned agenda of the new government expected to take office — including an overhaul of the country’s legal system and a…
