Bala Takaya, Middle Belt Forum Chairman, is dead

Chairman of Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Mr Bala Takaya, died, yesterday morning, at National Hospital, Abuja, where he had been treating an undisclosed ailment. He was 68 years old. The late politician hailed from Mabuguva, Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa State. He obtained his first degree from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in 1974 and later proceeded to London School of Economics and Political Science, where he obtained another degree in 1978. ASUU sets up committee over TETFUND projects

Funmi Olaitan, Ibadan Disturbed by the quality of work being done by some contractors engaged under Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) projects at University of Ibadan, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), in the university, has set up a monitoring committee to ensure that contractors engaged by the school follow the contract model. The union at its congress lamented that some buildings constructed in Faculty of Education and in Department of Statistics by the same contractor in less than a year could be described as having failed integrity test. Dozens killed in Cameroon's restive Anglophone region

More than two dozen people have been killed in one of Cameroon's Anglophone regions, local sources said on Saturday, although the exact circumstances of their deaths were not immediately clear. The incident in the town of Menka in Cameroon's Northwest Region is one of the deadliest since armed secessionists from the English-speaking minority launched an insurrection last year against the predominantly Francophone central government. Section 1 of the reviewed N134.8 billion Lagos-Ibadan Expressway will include two toll gates, underpasses and flyovers, the Federal Controller in the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Adedamola Kuti, has said.
