A guest house belonging to Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, was raided by security operatives Friday morning, a spokesperson for the lawmaker said.

The aide, Uche Anichukwu, said that the action was carried out by the “Inspector-General of Police’s Special Squad”.

“But nothing was found,” he said.

However, the spokesperson for the police, Moshood Jimoh, denied the raid was carried out by the police.

“It was not us,” Mr. Jimoh said. “I have asked all our departments and confirmed none of our officers was there.”

State Security Service, SSS, could not be immediately reached.

Mr. Anichukwu said the raid took place at about 8 a.m. at a guest house located on Ganges Street in the Maitama District of Abuja.
