Worried about the constant Fulani herdsmen attacks and killings in the north, Arewa leaders have expressed plans to mediate between inhabitants of warring communities and gunmen in order to put an end to the escalating feud in the region.

Northern leaders, under the umbrella of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), at a meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Musa Liman Kwande, lampooned the Federal Government over poor infrastructure and power supply across the country that continued to undermine the nation’s development and growth.

In a statement issued by National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, the leaders condemned the escalating crisis in the north, saying that they have resolved to intervene in order to put an end to the attacks and killings in northern communities.

Critiscising the Federal Government over the ailing state of infrastructures across the nation, Ibrahim pointed out that “the meeting noted with serious concern the slow pace of work on some Federal Government projects that are of economic value and have direct bearing on the lives of the people.”

Ibrahim, therefore, called on government and the National Assembly to appropriate adequate funds in this year’s budget for the completion of these projects.

Besides, the ACF meeting noted “the abysmally low power generation and erratic power supply being experienced nationwide”, while questioning “the wisdom of the privatisation of the National Power Holding Company (PHCN) and also the capacity of the private entrepreneurs that bought the power generation and distribution outfits.

Meanwhile the Arewa leaders “applauded the Federal Government’s policy on food security which encourages investment in agriculture and calls on our farmers to avail themselves to the revolving funds set aside by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other financial institutions.
