PFN accuses FG of unfair treatment of Christians

Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos State chapter on Tuesday lamented what it described as the continuous unfair treatment of Christians in the country.

The body said though Christians were being killed every now and then, the Federal Government had failed to bring anyone to justice.

It said recent happenings in the country seem to be confirming the fear expressed by some people before the 2015 general elections that Nigeria might be Islamised under President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Christian body, however, said it would not allow itself to entertain the fear or sentiment that anyone could Islamise Nigeria, a country it described as “a covenant nation that has been positioned by God to bring revival to nations of the world.”

PFN said this on Tuesday at Love Aglow Ministries, FESTAC, during a conference of its Lagos Executive Council.

A statement titled, “State of the nation,” was read by Chairman, PFN, Lagos chapter, Bishop Sola Ore.

Ore said, “We are left with no alternative but to conclude that there is something in the offing not clear to many Nigerians. What is happening in Southern Kaduna presently is worrisome, to say the least. It is sad that the President kept quiet on the killings for so long, only for us to be told that he needed not to comment on all issues. Pray! What is that thing that is more important than human lives?

“Who has been prosecuted for the killings of innocent lives in Kaduna? If I may ask; who has been sent to jail? As a matter of fact, which of the Boko Haram insurgents has been prosecuted? Is this government saying it does not know the masterminds of the dastardly acts?

“…Nigerian Christians have suffered too much. We have been killed; we have been brutalised; we have been denied our basic rights.”

PFN lent its voice to the call for the nation’s restructuring, urging the President to listen to the pro-Biafran agitators and others.

“In recent time, many notable Nigerians have asked for the restructuring of this nation. Many are agitating for the re-negotiation of the entity called Nigeria. We call on the government to listen and engage constructively with the agitators and look at ways of allaying their fears,” Ore said.
