Saraki leads National Assembly delegation to US

Senate President Bukola Saraki will today lead a delegation of National Assembly to Washington D.C, United States of America, on a parliamentary visit.

During the trip, Mr Saraki is expected to deliver a speech on Nigeria/US relations and opportunities at Council on Foreign Relations.

The delegation is also expected to meet US State Department and USAID Officials to discuss Energy Development, Health, Education, Gender Development Initiatives and Agriculture.

The delegation would hold meetings with select Members of US House Foreign Relations Committee led by Mr Ed Royce, Ranking Member Eliot Engel, Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations Subcommittee Chairman, Chris Smith and Ranking Member Karen Bass to discuss issues of mutual interest to Nigeria and the US.

Members of the delegation include Mr Ahmad Lawan, Mr Philip Aduda, Mr Baba Kaka Garbai, Mrs Rose Oko and House of Reps members, Mr Fijabi Saheed Akinade, Mr Rasak Atunwa and Mr Hassan Saleh.

A statement by Saraki’s aide on foreign relations and international affairs, Mr Bamikole Omishore said the visit was meant to strengthen parliamentary and diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and the United States.
