President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday handed over Fatima, daughter of Kano State governor, Mr Abdullahi Ganduje, to her groom.

The president stood for the bride, while a National Leader of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Bola Tinubu stood for the groom, Idris Abiola Ajimobi.

Tinubu paid N50,000 dowry on behalf of the groom, who is also son of Oyo State governor, Mr Abiola Ajimobi.

The marriage was contracted by Emir of Kano, Mr Muhammad Sanusi ll, while Chief Imam of Kano, Mr Sani Zaharaddeen, said special prayers for the couple.

Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki, 22 governors, 11 ministers, as well as the president’s Chief of Staff, Mr Abba Kyari, attended the wedding.

Chief Imam of Kano State said the union between the children of the governors would promote unity among Hausa and Yoruba nations.

On his part, former governor of Kano State, Mr Ibrahim Shekarau, urged the groom and bride to always be patient with one another, saying, “patience is the key to a successful marriage”.
