It was Wasiu Alalade that put Nigeria in front in the 12th minute with a shot from a goalmouth scramble.

After a flurry of missed chances, Flying Eagles doubled their lead after the half-hour mark through Nafizi Yahaya.

Yahaya scored with a cool finish after being one-on-one with Mauritania Goalkeeper.

Yahaya continued from where he stopped in the second half as he made it three for Nigeria few minutes after the restart.

The goal scoring spree for Flying Eagles continued in the second half as Okon Aniekeme made it 4-0.

The fifth goal was from the penalty spot.
