But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil ~ Psalm 92:10.
Introduction:
Yesterday’s win won’t qualify you for today’s trophy, and yesterday’s anointing won’t be sufficient in the face of today’s challenges. We all need fresh anointing for every new day, if we are to enjoy the freshness of God’s glory.
God’s age-long desire and primordial passion is to fill the earth with His power, glory, splendor, beauty, excellency, life and love (Numbers 14:21; Habakkuk 2:14). This divine desire is realizable only through the children of God. Hence, the global cry and the groans for the manifestation of the sons of God (Romans 8:19-20).
Meanwhile, it is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that can confirm any man/woman as a relevant agent for God on earth (1 John 2:27). The anointing represents the renewing, sanctifying and saving operations of the Holy Ghost, received and enjoyed by all God's people.
However, this anointing must be pure and fresh to generate impacts and fresh glory (Leviticus 24:2). We must learn to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in the process of renewing the anointing, or else the engine of our motion for God’s glory will grind to a halt.
The Works of the Holy Spirit In Our Hearts Today
Nowadays, some believers generally downplay the place of spirituality and power in this space called life, and this leaves much to be desired. Some even glibly say that Satan is powerless, feeble and weak. But, to say the least, such attitude is very preposterous, contrary to reason and utterly foolish. In fact, I see such thoughts as a subtle distraction from the pits of hell.
We live in an era of great speeches because of access to great knowledge, but Satan is no respecter of worldly knowledge. It is impossible to break through the wall of darkness with mere knowledge without the power of the Holy Spirit. It is that way serious!
The devil has some brute forces wherewith he controls his victims at will, and it is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that Satan becomes weak (Isaiah 10:27). Michael the Archangel could not break through Satan’s wall until he invoked the “lordly power” of the Holy Spirit to rebuke him (Zechariah 3:2; Jude 1:9; 2 Corinthians 3:17).
In fact, the Bible alluded to Satan’s power, which could be subdued only when the believers’ delegated authority is firmly engaged (Luke 10:19). Hence, our greatest need as believers is to be filled and drunk in the Holy Spirit.
The work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of men is of the greatest importance to any generation. Until we experience it, we are dead while still living. Until we receive Him, we are left on our own, struggling from the womb to the tomb.
There is nothing that can replace the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life today. If Jesus Christ depended solely on the Holy Spirit, I don't understand how some Christians feel they can make any headway in life without Him (Acts 10:38).
The Holy Ghost anointing is a critical success factor in our quest for fresh glory and great jubilation anytime. Therefore, we all must be resolute in our desire to become stronger in the Lord and in the power of His Spirit.
Things don’t just happen by chance, they are ordered for in the realm of the spirit (Psalms Psalms 32:8; 37:23). Put simply, our physical world is controlled by the unseen spiritual realm. Thus, even if we cannot yet fully comprehend the processes of spiritual outworks, we must never doubt the existence and the capacity of spirit beings to do great physical things.
We must be anointed with fresh oil, and ensure that we are acutely sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Sensitivity is the key to spirituality, and no one can see fresher glory than his or her level of anointing.
Without the anointing, we cannot reign as kings, officiate as priests, approach God as sons, or even rejoice before Him as favourites. It is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that gives strength to incapacitate the enemy, and to deliver people from afflictions. The rain of the anointing of the Holy Spirit is the rain of God’s mercy and faithfulness upon the anointed (Psalm 89:20-34).
Personal Sacrifices and Fresh Anointing
We must give it all it takes to constantly renew the oil of the Holy Spirit within us. As ever, value is a function of cost, and cost is a function of value! The anointing of the Holy Spirit is priceless; it’s value is immeasurable. Albeit, God has determined to prove our personal sacrifices before He releases His anointing upon our lives.
There must be sacrifices on the altars of our hearts, if the fire of glory will keep burning. The priests were commanded to keep the burnt offering on the altar continually (Leviticus 6:9). And, the oil for the light was to be beaten out, talking of painful sacrifices (Leviticus 24:2).
It is our privilege to be part of the living sacrifices to move the kingdom of God forward through our tithes, generous offerings, evangelism, follow-up works, and other such acceptable passionate kingdom services. And, it is also our duty to examine ourselves constantly to ensure our sacrifices are good, acceptable and perfect before God (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 13:5).
In addition, we must be truly yielded to the Holy Spirit and thoroughly repent of any known sin, taking out the trash of ungodliness from our life-spaces, and living a lifestyle of righteousness (Acts 3:19; Ecclesiastes 10:1; Psalm 45:7).
Furthermore, prayers and fasting will always help to refresh this sweet anointing (Isaiah 40:31; Acts 2:1-4). And, of course, a regular renewal of the mind with the Word of God is major catalyst to refreshing the anointing (Job 29:6). Adding the wood to the fire on the altar increases and strengthens the fire (Proverbs 26:20-21).
When you constantly and prayerfully read, listen to, study and meditate upon God’s Word, the fire of God’s love will continue to burn and glow in your heart. That is the reason why you must identify with a Church organization, and have a Pastor who will constantly pour out the Word upon your soul from a cistern of fresh inspiration.
Friends and brethren, God is set to promote His grace and glory in our lives, but we must first develop our spiritual wings in Christ Jesus to reach the place God desires to take us to: in kingdom relevance, in business, politics, career, social influence, financial repositioning, etc.
The heavenly storehouses are fully stocked with all good things of life, but we must avail ourselves to be served with fresh glory. God is calling, and sending forth a fresh anointing, even now. Do you want it? Then, be set to give it what it takes, today. See you at the platform of fresher glory for greater impacts, in Jesus Name. Happy Sunday!
