Nigeria, Niger, Algeria sign MoU for Saharan gas pipeline

Nigeria, Niger and Algeria have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a natural gas pipeline across the Sahara desert, Algeria's energy minister Mohamed Arkab said on Thursday. The three countries agreed in June to revive decades-old talks over the project, a potential opportunity for Europe to diversify its gas sources. Arkab told reporters after the signing ceremony that the three countries will continue talks to achieve the project as quickly as possible. Insecurity: FG procures six attack helicopters from Turkey

Federal government has reportedly procured six attack helicopters from Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). The helicopter, T129, has the capacity to perform well in hot temperatures and high altitudes. According to Defense News, Temel Kotil, general manager of TAI, said the company will deliver a batch of six T129 attack helicopters. Kotil did not mention the exact date the helicopters will be delivered to Nigeria. FAAC: FG, States, LGs share N802bn for June, 2022

There was more contribution from Companies Income Tax (CIT) and Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) for the N802.407 billion June revenue shared by the federal, state and local governments this week. According to a communique issued by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) at the end of its meeting, while contribution of CIT and PPT increased significantly, import duty and oil and gas royalties increased marginally; excise duties decreased significantly, while VAT decreased marginally. Nasarawa government has ordered the immediate closure of primary and secondary schools in the state over “security threats”.
