Akwa Ibom state government says it has received N186 billion as refunds of arrears of 13 percent of oil derivation proceeds from the federal government. Federal government borrowed N6.3 trillion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the first 10 months of 2022. Ways and Means is a loan facility through which the CBN finances the government’s budget shortfalls. The data, obtained from CBN’s website, showed that the Ways and Means’ debt climbed from N17.5 trillion in December 2021 to N23.8 trillion in October 2022 — an increase of N6.3 trillion in 10 months. FG provides timeline for end to fuel importation

Nigeria expects to stop importing petroleum products from before or around the third quarter of 2023, oil minister Timipre Sylva said on Tuesday.
