We have a big backlog and we are working hard to dig into it. It has dropped quite a bit in the last two months. We have increased the eligibility for people to use what we used to call…
RUSSIAN PERSPECTIVE The West’s military support for Kiev has accentuated the risk of weapons falling into the wrong hands, Daniel Kovalik, professor of international human rights at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, told the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Friday. And even when these arms are successfully delivered to Ukrainian forces, they are often used to shell civilians in Donbass, he added. Speaking at a UNSC meeting to discuss Western arms shipments to Ukraine, Kovalik claimed that the weapons are at risk of falling into the possession of unintended users, including criminals. However, “even when the arms are…

WESTERN PERSPECTIVE The United States announced new military aid for Ukraine on Friday and vowed to disrupt Russian ties with Iran, which a British envoy said involved Moscow seeking hundreds of ballistic missiles and offering unprecedented military support in return. Tehran and Moscow have denied Western accusations that Russia is using Iranian drones to attack targets in Ukraine, where officials warned on Friday of a winter-long power deficit after repeated Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure. Two senior Iranian officials and two Iranian diplomats told Reuters in October that Iran had promised to provide Russia with surface-to-surface missiles as well…
Central Bank of Nigeria says it has retrieved more than N1 trillion since its launch of new naira notes in a bid to move cash back into the banking system. The bank on November 26 unveiled new 200, 500 and 1000 naira bills ahead of a December 15 launch date. One of its reasons was massive hoarding of banknotes with over 85 per cent of currency in circulation outside the banks’ vaults. “To be more specific, as at the end of September 2022, available data at the CBN indicate that N2.73 Trillion out of the N3.23 trillion currency in circulation,…
