A statement from presidential spokesman Femi Adesina on Thursday announced that Saratu Umar, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), had been fired by President Muhammadu Buhari. No reason was given for the termination, even though the president had renewed her appointment for another five years. The statement also directed the most senior Director in the Commission to take over immediately on an interim basis, as per the President's directive to the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo.
