Gov poll: APC wins Lagos, Ogun, Kwara; PDP takes Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi

Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday started the announcement of results of governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections held in the country on Saturday. Results released so far revealed some surprises and upsets across the country. For instance, ruling All Progressives Congress in Oyo State lost the governorship poll to Peoples Democratic Party. Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, has attributed his defeat at the poll to the suppression of votes in areas where he was strong. Some leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) marched to the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday to protest the outcome of the presidential election. Use of card readers mandatory in Saturday’s elections – INEC

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday said the use of smart card readers (SCRs) is mandatory in Saturday’s governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.
