A former Head of State, Mr Yakubu Gowon, said on Saturday he and another ex-Head of State, Mr Abdulsalami Abubakar, were among key figures who stopped former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s impeachment by the National Assembly in 2007. Court of Appeal in Abuja has rejected an appeal challenging President Muhammadu Buhari’s academic qualification to stand for the last presidential election. Mr Mohammed Idris, in the lead judgment of a unanimous decision of a three-man panel, upheld an earlier judgment by a Federal High Court in Abuja, dismissing the suit on the grounds that it was statute-barred and robbed the court of jurisdiction to entertain the suit. Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday called for the implementation of recommendations of 2014 National Conference. An internal circular of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has indicated that the commission transmitted voter information from smart card readers to a central server during 2019 presidential election. House of Representatives has resolved to wade into the crisis rocking Edo State House of Assembly. To this end, the House set up a 13-man panel to investigate recent development in the Assembly.
