Former Governor of the Old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa is reputed for his frankness. He speaks from his heart and says it the way it is. In this interview with NOAH EBIJE in Kaduna, he insists that the very political weaknesses that flushed out the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general elections would do the same to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019. Alhaji Balarabe Musa, who is the National Chairman of People’s Redemption Party (PRP), admitted that though the PDP leadership was incompetent, Nigerians are now confronted with something worse in the APC. Kuje Prison not your home, Kalu tells Kanu

Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, yesterday paid a visit to the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, at the Kuje Prison, Abuja. The visit is believed to be part of a ‘mediation process’ between the Federal Government and the IPOB leader over the agitation for the restoration of the Republic of Biafra. Indication to this effect emerged yesterday when the former Abia State governor during his visit to Kanu highlighted the need for an amicable resolution of the feud. Although the meeting between the two lasted for about an hour, the details…
Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has said that the recent declaration of Operation Python Dance by the Nigerian Army in the Southeast region is a plan to annihilate the people of Biafra. Condemning the exercise, MASSOB insisted that the presence of the Nigerian military would never deter its members from the struggle, even as they cautioned the army “in every Igbo man, Biafra lives”. MASSOB leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu yesterday said the group is even more determined with the presence of ‘enemies’ as that simply proves “the enemies are in discomfort”. According to Madu,…

There is a complete breakdown of order and discipline at the 21 Brigade of the Nigerian Army with soldiers deployed to rout Boko Haram from the dreaded Sambisa Forest in Borno State turning against their officers and firing gunshots in all directions. People familiar with the matter said the troops complained of mistreatment and then began to shoot indiscriminately, threatening to kill any officer who stands on their way. “The brigade is based in Bama but is currently deployed at Bula Bello in Sambisa for Operation Rescue Final,” a military insider told PREMIUM TIMES. “But suddenly soldiers started mutinying at…
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an appeal by a former Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, seeking an order reinstating him to office to enable him to complete his truncated second term. Nyako still had 10 months left to spend in office when he was removed by the Adamawa State House of Assembly on July 15, 2014. The seven-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Tanko Muhammad held in its judgment that it agreed with the earlier decision of the Court of Appeal that declared Nyako’s removal from office as illegal, but that it was unable to…

Despite the rejection of his confirmation by the Senate, Ibrahim Magu remains the head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, lawyers have said. The Nigerian Senate on Thursday refused to confirm Mr. Magu as EFCC Chairman, based on “security report.” The Senate did not clarify what the security report contained amidst allegations the anti-graft chief was being victimised by senators who are either being prosecuted or investigated for corruption. Despite the Senate’s action, however, lawyers say Mr. Magu will still continue in his position as acting EFCC chairman unless removed by President Muhammadu Buhari. The lawyers also said…
