During the presentation of a book authored by Tunji Olaopa in Abuja on Thursday, a former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, spoke out about his concerns regarding the outcome of the recent general election, stating that it has left the country more divided than ever before. He went on to describe the election as a "sickening show of shame" and urged the incoming administration to take steps towards fostering national reconciliation.

Obasanjo emphasized the need for a common vision in order to rescue the country from its current state and prevent it from descending further into dystopia.

He called for urgent efforts towards national moral rearmament and reconciliation for those who feel aggrieved, particularly the youth.

He stressed that these efforts must be carried out in tandem with the imperative of national value re-orientation in order to create a collective sense of enduring and local values and national belonging.

As a dedicated patriot and "letterman," Obasanjo expressed his personal obligation to speak out and push Nigeria towards its collective aspirations of becoming a better society where all Nigerians can reach their full potential. He called on all committed patriots to work together to rescue the nation from the precipice and urged the audience to adopt an attitude of fearlessness in the face of darkness, continuing to work towards the light of all.
