AMCON ejects Buba Galadima from Abuja residence, takes over company

Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on Tuesday took over the business premises and assets of Bedko Nigeria Limited belonging to Mr Buba Galadima, a strong critic of President Muhammadu Buhari. Galadima, a former political ally of the president, has for years been one of the most vociferous critics of the administration. Kano bans street begging, to prosecute parents of kid beggars

Kano State Governor, Mr Abdullahi Ganduje, has placed a ban on street begging in the state. Ganduje announced the decision during the launch of Basic Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) and distribution of offer of appointment to 7,500 volunteer teachers, which held at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano yesterday. Nigeria records highest GDP growth for Q4 2019 - NBS

Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate improved to 2.55 per cent (year-on-year) in real terms in the fourth quarter of last year (Q4 2019) compared to 2.28 per cent in the preceding quarter, according to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). According to the GDP Report for Q4, released Monday by the statistical agency, the economy grew by 2.27 per cent in 2019 compared to 1.91 per cent in 2018. Aggregate GDP stood at N39.57 trillion in nominal terms, higher than the N35.23 trillion recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2018. The strong growth in Q4 also represented the highest…

Violent protests by grieving men, women and youths in Sagamu, Ogun State, has led to the death of at least two persons, while several others sustained varying degrees of injury. Delta community prohibits beef consumption over herders’ attacks

A community in Delta State, South-South Nigeria, has placed a ban on beef to protest attacks on their people by herders. The people of Uwheru in Ughelli North, Delta State, have been forbidden from eating or selling cow meat because of repeated attacks by herdsmen against farmers and residents of the kingdom. Despite public outcry, senate introduces bill to create agency for ‘repentant’ Boko Haram insurgents
