First day of resumption, Buhari spends 3 hours in office

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday morning resumed work at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. Buhari had Friday returned to the country, from his medical vacation in the United Kingdom. The last time the president was in the office was on Monday, January 16 before he departed for London on January 19. Buhari spent three hours in the office on Monday. Abuja light rail project 90% completed – Minister

FCT Minister, Mr Muhammad Bello, said on Monday that work on Abuja light rail project had reached 90 per cent, as most of the rail stations are at their finishing stages. The minister made this known after his inspection of the project site in Abuja. Bello said there are 13 railway bridges, 50 culverts, 15 flyover bridges and 9 pedestrian overpasses and bridges that are all 100 per cent completed. 28,627 policemen promoted

Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris has approved the promotion of 28,627 junior officers to their next rank. According to a statement issued by CSP Jimoh Moshood, force spokesman, the mass promotion was part of ongoing efforts by the police chief to boost morale of the personnel towards effective and efficient service delivery. Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) says it will begin sale of the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms on March 20. FG extends BVN to Microfinance Banks as ‘ghost workers’ migrate there

The Federal Government has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria to enforce the use of Bank Verification Number, BVN, in Microfinance Banks, amid suspicions that fraudulent government employees have set up “ghost workers” accounts in MFBs to avoid detection. Another N500b Paris Club refund ready for sharing to state govts

Another London-Paris Club loan refund (about N500billion) is on the way for states— with fresh hurdles for governors. Presidency has made it mandatory for all the states to account for the first tranche of the loan refunds – in line with the agreement it reached with Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF).
