The visit of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to Bayelsa State is an indication that the Federal government is committed to finding a lasting solution to the unrest, instability and underdevelopment of the Niger Delta Region.

The above is contained a statement made available to journalists recently by the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

According to the statement, "In preparation for this historic event, a lot of strategic meetings have been going on behind the scenes".

"Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh(Rtd), has been in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State capital, preparing for the acting president's visit.”

It noted that Boroh had visited different parts of Yenegoa, met with ex-Militant leaders like Boyloaf, Africa, and Pastor Reuben, adding that top on the agenda of those meetings was to rally support for the restructured amnesty programme.

"The visit of the acting President is an indication of Federal government's interest and commitment to the region. We should all see this as an opportunity to positively express ourselves", Boroh said while addressing some ex-agitators.
