One of the Vice President Osinbajo’s escort riders, Mr Ali Gomina, a police inspector, lost his life Friday in a fatal accident while leading the vice president’s convoy to Abuja airport.

Following the death of the rider, Mr Osinbajo cancelled the flight and returned to Abuja to mourn his security aide.

A statement by the vice president’s spokesman, Mr Laolu Akande, said Osinbajo described Gomina as a diligent, hardworking and serious-minded officer who would be greatly missed.

The statement read: “With grief in our hearts, we announce the death of one of the police escort riders on the Vice President’s convoy, Ali Gomina, aged 45, who was involved in a road accident while on official duty today.
