Bandits kidnap village head, two wives, 14 others in Katsina

17 people, including village head of Kaigar Malami, were kidnapped Monday night when bandits attacked the village in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Resident of the community told one of our correspondents that the village head, Kabir Ajiya, and his two wives were among 17 kidnapped.

It was learnt that the suspected bandits ransacked the village during which they also injured six men and rustled some cows. According to the residents, the  suspected bandits stormed the village at 9pm on Monday.

A resident who escaped to the nearby Danmusa town, Umar Abdulsalam, said many residents also escaped to surrounding communities.

He also said the residents had informed the police in the area, adding security operatives were already inside the forests searching for victims.

Spokesman for the state Police Command, Gambo Isah, when contacted said he had not been briefed.
