And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shall bruise his heel.

Genesis 3:15

Introduction

In the beginning, God gave man everything needed for life and godliness. But man lost everything through an unholy trade-off with the deception and subtleties of the devil in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1:28-31; Psalm 8:5-6). Adam lost his qualities in the place of dominion, and was consequently driven out of the garden of opulence. And ever since, man’s life has been filled with toils, hustles and struggles for survival (Gen. 3:1-24).

However, way back then, because of God’s unfailing love for man, He prepared an escape route through the ‘seed of the woman’, wherewith man can now recover his lost identity with God, and begin to enjoy again all the hidden riches of the earth through the gospel of Christ.

The Original Promise

God’s promise as contained in Genesis 3:15 is the first promise that was made of a Saviour to the apostate race of Adam. And, the seed of the woman mentioned here refers to the Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:16). The serpent is the devil, and the conqueror seed of the woman, who crushed the serpent’s head is Jesus Christ (John 8:44; 1John 3:8).

Yes, Satan bruised the heel of Jesus Christ when he raised up strong oppositions against Him during the time of His public ministry on earth. He bruised His heel when the Lord was overwhelmed with griefs in Gethsemane garden, and had to complain that His soul was exceeding sorrowful even unto death (Luke 22:44). But, Satan bruised His heel most of all when He was nailed to an accursed tree, and our Lord cried out, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”

It was at Golgotha that the old serpent gave the Saviour the deadly bite on His heel, which went through His foot, fastening it to the Cross with the cruel nails. However, in all of these, Jesus Christ, the seed of the woman, bruised Satan's accursed head with a fatal blow when He declared His mission accomplished with the historic words on the Cross at Calvary: “It is finished”.

The death of Jesus was preplanned for man’s redemption, but the devil didn’t know it, and he therefore fell for the bait (1 Corinthians 2:7-8; Revelation 13:8). Orchestrated by God’s hidden wisdom, and through His death on the Cross, Jesus Christ destroyed him that had the power of death, that is, the devil. Ever since, total redemption in all ramifications of life is absolutely accessible through Jesus Christ, and our God supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God’s Word in His Recovery Plan for the Ages

The Word of God is major in God’s total redemption plan for the ages. God’s Word has been with us from the beginning, and without it, nothing could be created, recreated or recovered (John 1:1-3).

At the fall, God made a great bail out plan by His Word, saying that the seed of the woman would eventually bruise the head of Satan, which was a great message of hope for man. And, at the set time, the seed of the woman, Jesus Christ, manifested in human form, bruised the serpent’s head, and obtained eternal victory from all oppressions and agony for all believers (Luke 19:10). Men and brethren, these are the days of our redemption and total recovery.

Redemption Package Via Jesus Christ

God’s total redemption agenda is available only in Christ Jesus, and are secured through Him via the following divine plans, pacts and processes.

Basically, God made a plan for man’s full redemption through the Blood of Jesus, by which any man could be bought back from any oppression they had been sold to, and free from all curses that had hitherto hindered man (Gal. 1:4; 3:13; Eph.1:7; Rev. 12:11).

Flowing from the above, Christ came, truly suffered and died on the Cross of Calvary to pay the price of justice for man’s redemption. He took our place in sufferings and pains, and became sin for us, so we might access the righteousness of God (2Cor. 5:21). He also became a curse for our sakes, so that the blessings of Abraham might be truly enabled in us (Gal.3:13-14).

Jesus Christ was not ashamed to die for winning full redemption for humanity. He died and arose, and by His resurrection power, even the grave can no longer hold back our blessings (Rom 6:23; Ezekiel 37:1-10; John 11:25-26, 33-45; Luke 7:11-17).

Man Role in His Redemption

Meanwhile, all the above can be validated for man only through a personal salvation experience. Salvation re-unites us to our Maker after we repent, confess our sins and believe the gospel. And, God in turn saves us and totally forgives us, delivering us from our sins and their attendant consequences. Through salvation, we are fully restored to the spiritual ‘Garden of Eden’ (John 3:1-3,16; 14:6; Acts 4:13; 2Cor. 5:17).

Friends and brethren, please keep in mind that God has removed all obstacles to our total redemption and has given us the name above all names, Jesus Christ, with which we can safely reclaim our full possessions. There is nothing lost that cannot be repossessed by the believers today. We serve the God of all possibilities. We must therefore go forth in His strength to possess our possessions. Yes, it’s our time for total redemption. Happy Sunday!
