Police appoint new Force Secretary

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris has appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Mr Frederick Lakanu as the new Force Secretary and member of Nigeria Police Force Management Team.

A statement yesterday from Police spokesman, Mr Jimoh Moshood said the appointment takes immediate effect.

He said the new Force Secretary has taken over from Mr Abdul Bube, who retired from the Force on 31st December, 2018 after Thirty-Five (35) Years of service.

He said Lakanu was born on October 12, 1959, in Lagos. He holds B.A. (Hons) Philosophy and LL.B. (Hons) from University of Lagos and Master in Law from Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds, United Kingdom.

Moshood said Lakanu has served as AIG Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Commissioner of Police in Imo and Ekiti States, Commissioner of Police Airport Command, Lagos, Principal Staff Officer to IGP (Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos) among others.

He said until his recent appointment, he was Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja comprising Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Niger and Kaduna States.

Moshood said Lakanu has since assumed duty as the Force Secretary.
