All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged Rivers State Governor, Mr Nyesom Wike, to name Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirants allegedly being sponsored by the ruling party.
Wike had in an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES said APC is sponsoring some PDP presidential aspirants.
“We know those PDP presidential aspirants who are agents of APC. We know them. The presidency and APC have planted people within our party, and we know it,” Wike said without naming the alleged moles.
In its reaction, APC in a statement by its publicity secretary, Mr Yekini Nabena, said Wike’s statement is another sign of PDP’s despair over its “failed” 2019 election bid.
“We challenge Wike to be brave enough and name APC-sponsored aspirants among the crowd that have signified interest to run for the presidency under PDP.
“Instead of putting its house in order, it is laughable that Wike and his PDP cohorts are clutching on straws in it is desperate bid to remain in public reckoning in the face of imminent 2019 defeat” the statement read.
APC asked PDP members who share its progressive ideals to leave the “sinking and rudderless ship” and come over to APC which it said is rebuilding and repositioning the country in all facets.
The party therefore urged PDP to quickly wake up to what it called the reality that 2019 presidential elections have been won and lost.
Wike is considered the most influential politician within PDP, having played a major role in the emergence of Mr Uche Secondus as the party’s national chairman.
