Niger PDP wields the big stick, sacks deputy chairman

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on friday descended heavily on its deputy chairman Mr Aminu Yussuf by handing him an indefinite suspension from the party.
The decision to sanction Yussuf was taken at an emergency meeting of the State Working Committee held at the party Secretariat in Minna on Friday.

A statement signed by the State Secretary of the Party, Mr Abdullahi Santali, Yussuf was found guilty of all allegations brought against him by the Wushishi local government area of the party and Niger North Senatorial district.

Santali said the State Working Committee found Yussuf guilty of "gross misconduct, anti party activities and engaging in conducts unbecoming of a party executive".

According to the statement, Yussuf was also  suspended from office to allow for investigations of complaints against him.

The Secretary reminded all its members that "no member is above the law and that every member should strive to adhere to the rules and regulations of the party with a view to improving its fortunes in the state.”

Efforts to reach Yussuf for his comments were unsuccessful.

Unconfirmed reports have it that the suspended PDP big wig was planning to decamp to ruling All Progressives Congress.
