A faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) known as the 'Fresh PDP' has agreed to collapse into mainstream PDP.
Announcing their decision after a meeting with a former national chairman of the party, Mr Okwesilieze Nwodo, Saturday in Abuja, chairman of ‘Fresh PDP' Mr Olukayode Akindele, said it was time for cease fire.
The faction emerged in protest of the result of the party's national convention held on December 9, 2017, where Mr Uche Secondus was elected national chairman of PDP.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting, Akindele who presented a list of what the group called the 'authentic NWC' members in an envelope to Nwodo, said they had decided to sheath their sword in the interest of Nigeria and 2019 general elections.
"I am delighted to tell you that we have collapsed into mainstream PDP. We have assurances from our leaders and the we will not have a parallel NWC Monday," he said.
On his part, Nwodo said that the reconciliation was reached with the knowledge of the Board of Trustees (BoT), National Working Committee (NWC) and other organs of the party.
"If Fresh PDP was allowed to form a structure on Monday, they would have given legitimacy to our members to leave the PDP.
"We have learnt our lessons and we are coming back more prepared and resolute to change the fortunes of this country," Nwodo said.
Similarly, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan said, "What was perceived as crisis is over."
