All Progress Congress (APC) has announced Mudashiru Hussein as its candidate for the July 1 bye-election for the Osun West senatorial seat.
He went into the primaries on Wednesday unopposed after his closest rival, Ademola Adeleke, withdrew from the race and decamped to the People’s Democratic Party.
After voting, Mr. Hussein scored 2,412 votes of the 2,413 valid votes cast.
Chairman of the committee which conducted the primaries, Sanusi Rikiji, announced him as the winner of the election which lasted all day.
Mr. Rikiji said a total of 2, 560 delegates participated in the primaries.
The committee had on Saturday disqualified Mr. Hussein for not resigning his appointment as commissioner early enough.
His disqualification was affirmed by the appeals committee before it was upturned by the party’s national working committee.
