Osibanjo calls DSS siege on National Assembly unlawful and gross violation of constitutional order, sacks DSS, DG

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday swiftly acted against the siege on the National Assembly by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) by not only condemning the act as unlawful and a ‘gross violation of constitutional order’, but also directing the immediate removal of Lawal Daura, the Director General of the DSS under whose command the act took place. After announcing the sack of Daura, office of the Acting President followed it up with a press release in which it promised that all those who took part in the unlawful action would be identified and punished accordingly.

ACTING PRESIDENT CONDEMNS UNAUTHORIZED TAKEOVER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has described the unauthorized takeover of the National Assembly complex earlier today as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all accepted notions of law and order.



According to him, the unlawful act which was done without the knowledge of the Presidency is condemnable and completely unacceptable.



By this statement, Professor Osinbajo is consequently assuring Nigerians that all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.
